Protern Live Sensor Basics
How to turn on/off the Protern Live sensors, as well as the guide to the LEDs.
Quick Reference
- Everything OK: Top LED pulsing green + Bottom LED pulsing green = connected to server with GPS fix
- Power on: Hold the button for 2 seconds
- Power off: Triple-press the button
- Check battery level: Turn on the sensor and hold the button for half a second. Red: Less than 20%; Orange: 20% - 50%; Yellow: 50-80%; Green: Greater than 80%;
Button
The sensor button is used to turn on and off the sensor.
- Power on: Hold the button for 2 seconds
- Power off: Triple-press the button
LED Status Lights
During normal operation
When the sensor is not plugged in, the two LEDs (top - furthest from the button; bottom - closest to the button) provide feedback on the sensor's mobile connectivity and GNSS/GPS status.
Top LED (furthest from the button) - Mobile Network Status
- Off: Initializing or offline mode
- Blue pulse: Connecting to cellular network
- Orange solid: Connected to cellular, server not yet connected
- Green pulse: Connected to server and transmitting
- Red fast pulse : Network error / disconnected (auto-reconnection)
- Red solid: Error (auto-recovery)
Bottom LED (closest to the button) - GNSS/GPS status

Off: GNSS not running

Blue pulse Blinking blue (medium speed): Searching for position fix

Solid green: Position fix acquired
When plugged into USB
Top LED (furthest from the button) - Battery level
- Red: < 20%
- Orange: 20% - 50%
- Yellow: 50% - 80%
- Green: > 80%
Bottom LED (closest to the button) - Charging status
- Off: Not charging
- Blue: Charging
- Green: Fully charged
