There are five different cloud sharing options within Protern Video available to those with coach accounts. Outlined below is a description of each sharing option and its scope. Also included are some examples of when the sharing option may be applicable.
Athletes can use the Private sharing, but otherwise can't share videos with coaches or other athletes.
Where to access the sharing options
There are a few different places where you can set the sharing options for your videos, depending on the situation.
Video gallery
You can set the sharing for one or more videos from within the gallery. Tap on the three dots for an individual video, or select multiple videos and tap the three dots in the multi-select banner, and pick Sharing.
Settings under Protern Cloud
Within the settings you can set the default sharing action. Any video that is shared will automatically use these sharing settings, so it is a good idea to set your defaults to the most conservative option you are comfortable with.
Sharing Options
Below is a description of the five sharing options and some scenarios where they may be best applied.
Private
Private video sharing shares videos only between your own devices. This the default sharing option for new accounts and the only sharing option for athlete accounts. It is useful for backing up your videos to the cloud and sharing videos filmed on your phone with your desktop.
Coaches Only
Coaches Only will share the video with all the coaches linked to your account. This sharing option is helpful if you want to keep the video within the coaching team for initial review and analysis. When you are ready, you can change the sharing for an individual or group of videos by clicking on the video's three dots in the gallery.
Individual Athlete
The Individual Athlete sharing option will share the video with all the coaches linked to your account, as well as the athlete named in the video. This sharing option is best for athletes of different levels and large teams, where you don't want every athlete to get every other athlete's video. If there is a specific video you want to share with the whole team (i.e. fastest run of the day), you can modify the sharing for that video in the gallery.
Team
Team sharing option will share the video with all the athletes and coaches linked to your account. This option is best for smaller teams with similar level athletes who can benefit from viewing their teammates videos. It's best to avoid this option if you have multiple training groups linked to your account, instead use Individual Athlete or Custom.
Custom
Custom sharing option lets you pick specific athletes and/or coaches to share the video with. This options provides the most control and can be helpful if you have multiple training groups associated with your account. You can use your tags you have set up on your account to filter the list so you can limit your sharing with one training group. This option is also helpful if you want to share the video with the one person who is tasked with processing all the video.
